Common Myths About Shoeboxed
These are myths. Want the real story?
It’s a shoe store.
Despite the number of people that come to our office expecting to get some shoes, we do not sell shoes. If you buy shoes, and want to save the receipt, maybe we can help you out there.
You have to buy a scanner to use Shoeboxed.
Shoeboxed Receipt Mail-In is the best way to digitize and organize your receipts without using a scanner. When you mail them to us, we use state-of-the-art scanners of a much better quality than standard desktop or portable scanners.
You have to use a scanner to use Shoeboxed.
We’ll do the scanning for you, so you’ll never have to push paper or sit in front of a clunky scanner. Say goodbye to scanners breaking when you most need them and expensive software upgrades. Say hello to Shoeboxed.
I’m still going to have to keep my paper receipts for returns and exchanges.
It’s easy to print out your receipts from Shoeboxed so you can return and exchange things you bought at the store. As long as the bar code is still in tact, retailers won’t have any problem helping you out.
Shoeboxed is based in Germany.
Though Shoeboxed launched its website while located in Germany and our seed investors are German, Shoeboxed is based in North Carolina and staffed (mostly) by Americans; we’ve got a German and a Belgian in the mix too.
Storing receipts online is somehow not safe.
Shoeboxed takes protecting your information extremely seriously. Shoeboxed privacy policies have been reviewed by TRUSTe, a nonprofit ensuring that companies have fair and consumer-friendly privacy practices. HackerSafe checks for vulnerabilities in Shoeboxed’s code every single day, making sure that Shoeboxed is protected against known attacks. As long as you keep your password safe, Shoeboxed protects your data so it can only be viewed and accessed by you. Additionally, Shoeboxed does not store the personally identifiable information that would be required for someone to steal your identity. We do not store credit card numbers, bank account numbers, or social security numbers. Unlike other finance websites online, we never even see any of your financial information other than the receipts you put in your account.
