Today we’re excited to announce a new beta feature that will make organizing your receipts in Shoeboxed even easier: Receipts Needing Attention!

Shoeboxed Receipts Need Attention This new feature detects any receipt in your account that is missing crucial information and highlights it right on the front page of your account. Any receipt that is missing a store name, date, total or category will be displayed in this section. Each receipt will have a “Fix me!” button next to it so you can quickly and easy update the missing information.

You are probably asking yourself, “Why would a receipt be missing information? Isn’t Shoeboxed supposed to extract the data?” Yes, Shoeboxed extracts and human-verifies data in almost all cases, but processed receipts can be missing information for several reasons:

  • If your preference in account settings is to data-enter receipts yourself, you may have skipped a field or an entire receipt.
  • If you shop at a local store that is not in our database, we may not know how to categorize the expense unless you have created a specific rule for that vendor.
  • Sometimes it can be hard for robots and even humans to identify certain fields on a receipt.

In any of these cases, we would rather let you know that there is some information missing so you can decide if you want to fix it, or leave it as it is.
