This partnership is the first use of Shoeboxed’s new API, which several companies and independent developers are currently exploring to leverage the information that people store in their Shoeboxed accounts.
As many of you know, Shoeboxed’s mail-in scanning service lets users mail paper receipts in to Shoeboxed to have them scanned and data-entered into their online accounts. Now, those receipts can be automatically synchronized with Outright.com’s bookkeeping application. Once you agree to have your data synched up, your Outright.com account will be updated nightly with your Shoeboxed receipts. This streamlines the time-consuming tasks of organizing receipts and accurate bookkeeping for both home-based and small businesses.
To achieve this tight integration of the two applications, Outright.com is taking advantage of Shoeboxed’s new API, which makes it possible to automatically update user information. Users can view the scanned copy of each receipt and the data entered by Shoeboxed from within Outright.com. Additionally, to make it easier to properly prepare a Schedule C form, expenses synched with Outright.com inherit the tax categories assigned within Shoeboxed.
